The project consisted of replacing the superstructure of Bridge No. 1123 located in Barrio Jacana, at Km. 0.3 of Carr. PR-359 of the Municipality of Yauco, PR because it was deteriorated by the impacts received by trucks that transit the area. The proposed design consisted of a slab composed of pre-fabricated and pre-stressed void slabs that allow a free distance of more than 4.95 meters between the bottom of the bridge and the Carr. PR-2. With the new superstructure of the bridge it was necessary to adjust the elevations of the entrance and exit ramps to the Carr. PR-2. The existing islets were demolished and new ones built, the necessary signage, pavement marking and traffic maintenance were provided based on the design guidelines of the Highway and Transportation Authority (ACT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
