The Avenida Gándara revitalization project aims to transform it into a complete street, prioritizing accessibility, safety, and sustainability. It includes improvements from Avenida Ponce de León to Avenida Barbosa, with key interventions such as safe pedestrian crossings, sidewalk widening, bike lanes, and the rehabilitation of adjacent streets like William Jones, Vallejo, and Brumbaugh. The project proposes new pavement, fixed urban furniture, LED lighting with potential solar panel integration, updated signage, facade painting, and improvements to the electrical system. Additionally, it includes reforestation, tree pruning, and the creation of green spaces, with landscaping design in harmony with the surroundings. These interventions aim to promote pedestrian and cyclist spaces, and meet accessibility standards and current building codes, establishing the entrance to the Río Piedras Urban Center as a functional and resilient space.
